Ode to the Kitchen
For most people the kitchen is the place where families create, exchange and share unforgettable meals. For me the kitchen represents the space I developed my God given gift of nurturing and styling hair. Many blessings to my maternal grandmother Elmira Williams. It was in the kitchen that I would watch her Shampoo, press, curl and style hair without missing a beat. It was then that I knew I wanted to do what she did. She taught me invaluable secrets about pressing hair. At age of 9, I was motivated to start braiding hair and later began styling. My first clients were my family and close friends and later classmates and their friends and family. So, yes, I was styling hair in junior and high school.
I'm sure that my clients would agree that my pressing skills are unmatched. I always focus on the "Kitchen" they all know what that is! Lol! I became a salon owner at the age of 22 and successfully operated that business for over 20 years. Before I go any further, I would like to thank my friends and family for being my practice models... My apologies for anyone's hair that I damaged during my learning phase. I'm sure that I have made It up to you all by now. Lol! My gift has allowed me to meet and cultivate rich lasting relationships. With the some of the most phenomenal women ever created. I am so thankful to have been able to learn, grow, listen, confide and create unforgettable memories with all of these beautiful souls. We now consider each other family, friend and sisters. Over the years I have had the pleasure of watching all of them blossom into fierce, educated, smart career women, wives, mothers, grandmothers and so much more. We have shared many ups, downs and turnarounds with one another. Honestly, collectively... we have become one big family. When schedules allowed we supported each other for birthdays, holidays, weddings, graduations, baby shower, funerals and many other life events. I am so blessed to have had their support for so many years. Thank you ladies for trusting me to do what I do! Y'all know I love you!
